We had a nice time. We went for a birthday dinner so didn't go for the games. I enjoyed the meat lovers pizza and hubby liked his spicey chicken sandwich. Others at the table were mixed, with fish and chips a thumbs up, a noodle salad was a huge thumbs down and burgers and other sandwiches were ok. The other half of the party were too far away to hear how they enjoyed. The kiddos that came had a blast playing the games.

We went with a group of friends this evening and we were a family of 4. I had purchased each of 2 my kids a bracelet for all you can play for 3 hours (almost $50 each) unfortunately my daughter had lost her wrist band 20 minutes after getting it, we searched the floors and it was no where to be found. I had taken my receipt up to the front desk and they told me there was nothing they could do so I asked for a manager in which she had explained the same thing stating that it says on the signs they are not responsible for lost or stolen items which I get but I had my receipt showing time of purchase in my hand 20 mins prior. I had spent $48 on a wrist band that we no longer had and we had travelled from out of town to spend our hard earned money for a nice family day weekend outing and also had dinner reservations that evening but she wouldn’t budge. I was so upset I went to find my husband who was with my son and explained what had happened so we both went over and asked to speak to another manager. He tried to tell us too bad also saying this is a business lol I get that but we weren’t into it for an hour plus it was legit just bought 20 mins prior and I had my receipt to prove it she had only played 3 games he said well you would be surprised how many games you can play in 20 mins. Anyways after pleading he decided he would load a new card which we were grateful for. I really didn’t like that I had to get upset about it and go through 2 managers we spent about $300+ between wrist bands, drinks and dinner. We ended up having a good time but it was very stressful and I wish that they would empathize ..kids make mistakes. After they gave us a new wrist band they told us to go resister it why wouldn’t they tell you that when your first get them or automatically do it so if lost it’s easy to cancel and issue a new one. I don’t think I’ll be back for a long while after that. The portions at the restaurant were pretty small also.

I am extremely disappointed with how my group was treated at The Rec Room Barrie. My brother, my girlfriend, and I were bowling for my brothers birthday and used nicknames we have called each other for years. One of the names is loosely based on an Ojibwe word. We are Indigenous and live on reserve. The name had absolutely nothing to do with anyone else’s culture and was not intended to offend anyone. A group of East Indian men complained and accused us of being racist. Despite us calmly explaining the context, a staff member approached us, attempted to ID my brother, and told us to change the name. Although I felt this was unfair, I changed it to avoid conflict. After that, members of the this group of men continued yelling at us and calling us racist. Instead of addressing their behavior or de-escalating the situation fairly, a manager came over, was extremely rude, and immediately kicked us out. There was no attempt to hear our side or treat us with respect. As Indigenous people, it was deeply upsetting to be singled out, silenced, and removed while being verbally harassed. The situation was handled unprofessionally, emotionally, and without any cultural understanding. I have never felt more dismissed and unwelcome in a public business. Management needs serious training in conflict resolution, cultural awareness, and fair treatment of all patrons.
