Wandered into here during a heatwave in Belfast and so glad I did! Corey served me a lovely pint of Blue Moon after offering everyone (including myself) some factor 50 for that mental weather. To top it off, he even gave me some complimentary cheese (shout out Mike’s Fancy Cheese). This is my first time visiting but it won’t be my last. Great bar, lovely staff. 10/10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

EXTRA EXTRA. The headline is as follows: The best bar in Belfast. There’s competition for sure but I am assured that given its location and slight lack of awareness of some people to its existence (I know right?), it makes for the perfect spot to pop in and have a pint, on a date, in a small group, or on your lonesome. Before you know it, you’ll be in the throes of great conversation with the wonderful staff, including Gee, Cory and Mel, who are great people and so inviting, as well as other patrons doing just the same. The interior is magnificent and so hard to believe given the style of the neighbouring bars. It’s not exactly what one would expect to walk into when hitting the bright lights of Union Street, but as soon as you walk in, there’s a real sense of just how perfect a fit it truly is. The seating and decoration are quintessential of a real old-man bar but with typewriters and other journalism memorabilia on display on the walls and ceilings. Truly UNIQUE. As a journalism geek, I know I would be in heaven if this was in Paris or Prague so for it to be on my doorstep in Belfast is a real treat. I am a basic lager drinker and the Madri is a reliable one always. There are definitely recommendations on the craftier side and a selection of Kinnegar and such for those with the classiest of taste. Workers’ Club on a Friday is the place to be for cheap ones and good vibes with great music. I’ve been lucky to attend art events here which are held weekly. You’ll talk to friends, talk to strangers (who are really just friends in disguise), and isn’t THAT what it’s all ABOUT. This could really win in the endless battle for best bar in Belfast. Polaroids are up behind the bar, so get one taken and pop yourself up there as a new regular at the Reporter. Need I say more? Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
