Firstly, when google maps got me to the destination I was surprised the business was in a truckers lay-by. Plenty of parking and what a find. Glad I looked at the fish and chips awards 2026 to see that the scrap box was on my way to Filey. Just had to try it and see why this place was voted number 1 in the UK. ordered cod and chips at £12.95 which is good value compared to a lot of other places in the country. Cod was cooked fresh which I thought it might be given haddock is preferred fish of the Yorkshire region. Everything was cooked so quick, must have been 5-7 mins upon completion and there was a continual queue of orders before and after me. Anyways, the chips are crisp on the outside and the inner light and fluffy so must be double cooked to achieve this. They are a wow factor as is the light battered fish. Absolutely fresh as it comes from the sea flaky white cod with a slight juice to it. So wish this place could be franchised and placed on my doorstep. Well done lads, credit to the industry and deserving of your award. Will be back if in the area. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
