This was the first time we had visited the Shoulder of Mutton since its refurbishment and whilst the toilet area is much better, the rest struggles between an attempt at fine dining in one part and a gastro pub in the other. This clash of styles does not work unfortunately. The food in general was good although we were not happy with the pitiful amount of crab in a starter . When the waitress was questioned on this, the feedback received was that the kitchen was running short and rationing portion size . In addition there was no wine menu and you had to go to the bar to see what was on offer - even then there was only a general description and we were reduced to reading each bottle to see exactly what it was. Service was good however and the staff cheerful but the pub really needs to address some basis issues if it is ever to reach the heights it obviously aspires to.

We all ordered different sandwiches from the lunch menu and they were all absolutely delicious. We also had the soup of the day which was really tasty. Only negative would be the new seating and decoration since we last went in, it has one from a beautiful, cosy pub to a cold and dingy feeling cross between a restaurant and a pub but it doesn't feel like either. It just didn't feel right and has lost the charm it used to have.

Went on Father's day with my daughter who doesn't like beef or pork and found nothing on the menu. They were so unhelpful and rude. Suspect food is microwaved as they wouldn't swap anything around. Won't ever go back.
