Thank you for your review and we have taken on board your opinion. We are sorry that you felt like this and we are very sorry for your loss and as said in previous reviews on this subject over the last few weeks that we have received... this was about a party that used the pub on a Sunday Night, no wake was booked in at any time for the Sunday night for this group. The Wake was held at a local hotel just outside Cockermouth on the Monday....we were asked by a lady on the phone if a few friends (max 12) could meet in the pub after travelling here on the Sunday Night, the lady who phoned was not present in the pub at anytime. It became apparent that the constantly increasing group had lost someone and were quite emotional so the female behind the bar single handed served politely, quickly, quietly and in a reserved manner and if you felt that was miserable we apologise. Four members of the group were ID as as they did not look old enough to drink. The increasing group seemed quite emotional and one lady in the group was verbally rude to the landlady at the bar in front of all. As said before no wake was asked to be booked in or to be provided for. We hope this clears up the misunderstanding. The Swan is a lovely old pub as you have said and the landlord/lady work extremely hard seven days a week to provide the traditional, old pub and we would love for you to visit again and let us show you what a great friendly, local this is, whilst in the pub you might have noticed that all were greeted with a hello and nobody waited to be served at any time... we are sorry for your loss and the misunderstanding. love and best wishes x
