On Wednesday 16th January 2019, I went to the TAF for a drink and a revision session to get ready for my upcoming exam. Drinking Strongbow is pretty hungry work, so at around 2100 hrs I decided to treat oneself and order a ‘Jerk chicken wrap’ (or one of the other chicken wraps). I believe we had 20 % discount on all orders too, so I thought this was one of the greatest days to be on this planet. Life was good. The food arrived in good time, it took between five and ten minutes which I was extremely happy with considering you guys were quite busy. My problem is what arrived in front of me.
I like to save the best thing on the plate until last (unpopular opinion, but I’m a strong independent person that doesn’t bow down to social boundaries), so I went straight in for the chips. I’d just been outside to enjoy a tobacco stick so my hands were already in a state of unfathomable cold however, upon coming into contact with said chip, they reached negative degree figures. The chips were that cold that it seemed like they were pulled straight out of the freezer from next to the choc-ices. I hold a respectful honour to myself by managing to eat everything that is on my plate. Always. This was the first time that I did not finish my plate for many years. If my mother finds this information out, I may not reach my next exam. She’d probably come after you guys too. She’s only 4ft11 but she’s solid and would tear down buildings if she found out her #1 son wasn’t eating properly. I wish the disappointment stopped there.
After attempting to eat my popsicle-chips I moved on to the best bit. How could a chicken wrap let my hunger cravings down? I legitimately received three cold little pieces of chicken between the two wraps. I genuinely used to feed my pet hamster more (RIP Shandy). I know it was 20% off, but I didn’t expect to get 60% less chicken. I’ve given the vegetarian thing a go, it doesn’t work for me, please stop trying to give me a hint. My family are feeders at Christmas alright?!
In conclusion, TAF, you’ve been good to me since I arrived in September. You’ve been there for me when I needed to drink too much gin and cider, initiating unexpected nights in Live Lounge. I’m not usually the complaining type and I’m not trying to get a refund, I just wanted to let you know what suffering students may have experienced over their exam period. I hope chicken shortage or the vegetarian in the kitchen sorts itself out, for the sake of all students at Cardiff University.
