We popped in yesterday as we were in town the lady behind the bar was very polite and welcoming. We’ve not been in since the refurb and it’s look great. Only downside was the toilets they were very smelly, although they looked very clean. We didn’t mention it to the lady, not sure we would revisit. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Hiya, thanks so much for your five star review, we are looking into a plumbing issue which has in the past at times caused a smell. The toilets are very clean and cleaned regularly but the issue is to do with the pipes.

The new management have transformed what was a somewhat tired old cornerhouse pub into a vibrant alehouse. The staff are very friendly as well as knowledgeable. There is an excellent and interesting choice of beers in both cask and keg including breweries such a Verdant, Salt and Shiney. The Royal Standard is well worth a visit!
