Aiden was so welcoming! We are returning customers after moving back to the area recently and not having visited the pub for many years. Aiden was polite, friendly, accommodating and literally couldn’t do enough for us. A real asset to the team and definitely who you would want to be greeted by when arriving at the pub. Have booked for next weekend and will be bringing our two young sons for dinner. Meal type: Other Price per person: £20–30 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Possibly the worst dining-out experience I've had in 20 years. Upon arrival we were told food waiting times are 45-60 minutes, which seemed fair as there was a game on, and it was quite busy. Worth noting however, the vast majority of customers were having drinks only. After over 90 minutes I went over to ask for the food. I was told it's coming soon. Another 45 minutes wait brought nothing. When I went over to ask for a refund, the manager agreed that it wasn't right and authorised it. I was told the kids' meals have just been delivered though. Still, processed the refund (which weirdly for the first 3 days appeared on my statement as another charge, then disappeared, then finally was paid back) and went to the table to find the sharer (nachos) delivered, not kids' meals. Probably the saddest looking plate of nachos I've ever seen. It's a shame because I have visited before for lunch with work colleagues, and the service was always great - although it also seems understaffed, and if we arrive as a group, plus some other customers, they bar and kitchen staff are struggling. If it was known to the owners and staff that the kitchen was running on skeleton crew, it would be wiser to stop accepting food orders altogether until you've cleared the backlog, instead of taking on new orders and making families with kids wait for 3 hours in vain. I visit The Village Inn regularly it has a good atmosphere. I wish they would advertise events more regularly though, as my wife missed the Hoedown. A few team members like Vicky and Stacey are always super friendly, polite, and welcoming every single time. They have a great attitude and really make a difference and create such a nice atmosphere in the pub. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £50–60 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
