The Wicket sits in that sweet spot where history, neighborhood charm, and easygoing hospitality all meet. Its name reaches back to traditional English pub culture, where a “wicket” was not only part of the game of cricket but also a term used for a small gate—something you passed through on your way to community, conversation, and a good pint. That spirit still lives in the pub today. Even before you step inside, you feel like you’re entering a place that has welcomed locals and travelers for generations. The pub has a warm, lived‑in character that makes you feel at home right away. It’s the kind of spot where regulars know each other by name, but newcomers are greeted with the same easy friendliness. We were staying just a short walk away, and it made for the perfect stop while waiting for friends to arrive after their flights. The atmosphere was lively enough to feel fun, yet relaxed enough that carrying on a conversation was effortless. Guinness tasted exactly as it should—smooth, rich, and poured with care—which added to the comfort of settling in and enjoying the moment. Although the kitchen had closed by the time we arrived, the menu reflects the kind of hearty, satisfying pub fare that pairs well with a pint and good company. Classic dishes, comfort favorites, and shareable plates give you plenty of options when the kitchen is open, and the staff are quick to offer suggestions or help you find something you’ll enjoy. Even without food that evening, the service stood out. Everyone we interacted with was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely happy to have guests in the pub. The Wicket feels like a place where stories have been told for decades and where new ones are made every night.
