I went through the Tim Hortons drive-thru just to ask for a cup of hot water. The employee told me I would have to pay the price of a tea. Since I was being charged anyway, I decided to order a Honey Lemon Tea instead. When I got to the window, I watched the employee remove and clean the drive-thru headset that sits in his ear and then immediately handle my cup without washing or sanitizing his hands. Since the headset is worn in the ear, it can come into contact with earwax and other germs. Watching him touch it and then touch my cup without washing his hands was very unhygienic and made me uncomfortable. On top of that, it took almost 10 minutes just to prepare what was essentially hot water. When he finally handed me the cup, there wasn’t even a tea bag in it. I had to remind him that I had ordered a Honey Lemon Tea, and instead of preparing it properly, he simply handed me the tea bag and expected me to put it in myself. If I’m paying the full price for a tea, I expect it to be prepared correctly and served with basic hygiene and customer service. The lack of cleanliness, the unnecessary wait, and the poor service were extremely disappointing. Overall, this was a frustrating experience and not what I expect from Tim Hortons.
