So friendly staff, and the place came highly recommended from friends.... so we ordered take out for a large group.... but our experience was really not good.... food was really really poor,... poor quality meat (more grizzle than meat), the egg rolls were not cooked and doughy... really not edible., the other dishes tasted off and this was the worst ginger beef I have ever been serviced.

Overall a very unpleasant meal and a I was embarressed to serve this to guests. Was not what we had in mind for a fun new years eve party. Do your research before ordering or eating here.

I am a huge Chinese Food fan. It’s my favourite food. I have eaten Chinese food all over Calgary and in a lot of other cities and I used to eat often at Toi Shan restaurant. I haven’t been there for a while but I went tonight and had the combo for one. The plate they served me was by far the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. They stacked one end of the plate with rice which filled half the plate and then they piled ginger beef and palace style chicken, both of which are supposed to have significantly different sauces, on top of each other. The chicken was simply big pieces wrapped in way too much coating. The Ginger beef was very dry and tasteless because there was no Ginger beef sauce. I talked to the manager about it and all he said was “I’ve been here for 30 years and we’ve done it that way all the time” which has nothing to do with the lack of quality of the dish he was serving. As a Chinese food lover I would strongly recommend that you don’t visit Toi Shan restaurant as there are numerous other Chinese food restaurants that serve quality food.
