I was attracted to the vibe of this place while walking by, and popped in here. The owner was so friendly, thoughtful, and proud of what is obviously a wonderful place. Be sure to go here. Honestly, it was a highlight of my time in Toronto. On a side note, got a can of amazing ginger beer, and cardamom cream soda -- both amazing, to the point that I said "wow" out loud at my first sip of each. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Trinity Bar was disappointing because of how the situation was handled by staff. My friend and I sat on the patio, and I had a sandwich with me. Two different servers saw it before my friend ordered drinks and food, and neither said anything to me. Once my friend had received her order, I took a bite of my sandwich when a server suddenly reacted in a way that felt unnecessarily rude and embarrassing. Instead of approaching our table and politely explaining that outside food wasn’t permitted, he stood in the middle of the patio, gestured toward us, and gave us a look as if we should have known better. When I asked, “I’m sorry, am I not supposed to?” his response was, “Well, we saw you with food, did we not?” before immediately turning his back and walking away to another table. The issue was never the policy. If outside food isn’t allowed, that’s completely understandable. The issue was the attitude and the way it was communicated, especially in front of other customers. Later, my friend went inside to apologize on both of our behalf. Rather than accepting the apology and moving on, the same staff member continued to lecture her about how it was a restaurant. The interaction felt unnecessarily aggressive and left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Customer service is about how situations are handled. A simple, respectful conversation would have resolved this in seconds. Unfortunately, the dismissive and passive-aggressive approach turned what should have been a minor misunderstanding into a negative experience. Would’ve loved the place but never coming here again if I have to see that guy again. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

Disappointing Experience – Overpriced, Unwelcoming, and Poorly Managed Went to Trinity Market for a friend’s birthday and honestly, it was a letdown from the start. Despite our group being 30+ people, the owner was adamant about not allowing anyone from the party onto their patio. The inside of the venue is cramped and clearly not equipped to host a group that size, yet no accommodations were made whatsoever. Trying to make the best of it, I picked out a bottle of wine from their wall—overpriced, but whatever, it was a celebration. What they didn’t mention until after opening it was that there was a $23 corkage fee. That’s absurd. Most restaurants either don’t charge a corkage fee when you’re buying their wine or at least have the courtesy to mention it beforehand. There was no signage, no heads-up—just a surprise charge. Things only got worse from there. When we were ready to leave and had some wine left, we naturally wanted to take the bottle with us—we paid for it, after all. The owner stopped us and claimed it was illegal to take the bottle off the premises. We tried to ask questions calmly, hoping for a reasonable explanation, but he wasn’t having it. Instead of a conversation, we got told we were no longer welcome there. After looking up the law ourselves, it turns out we were allowed to take the bottle home as long as it was properly bagged—which the restaurant is required to do. So not only was the owner rude, but also wrong. All in all, Trinity Market left a really bad taste. Between the hidden fees, the inflexible policies, and the owner's condescending attitude, it’s safe to say we won’t be back. The place is overpriced, overhyped, and run by someone who clearly doesn’t care about customer experience. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: $50–60
