The Velvet hotel is a very well furnished place with a gorgeous bathroom. The bed was comfy and the linens felt very fresh. It is noisy, but it’s on Canal Street so that is to be expected. I think ear plugs in the room could be a nice addition but not essential. The illy coffee machine was very tasty and a nice change from usual rubbish hotel coffee. The only couple of pointers are the TV doesn’t load/ work properly. I think it’s because the wifi is overall not good. It probably just needs a booster but we wanted to chill out in the morning and it was a bit of a faff. Nut allergy handling was pretty good, but just needed tightening. I did state I had an allergy but there were still bags of peanuts in our room when we arrived. At breakfast, I was served a nut free selection but they still delivered crunchy nut in for my partner and another pastry which was possibly nut free but we couldn’t tell. I would say 9/10 people with allergies do not want any of that product in the room. Clarification at time of checking in would support this. Overall though we had a lovely stay and thank staff for being so welcoming :) Service: 4

Great hotel. Well decorated. Comfy beds. Good amenities. Great location. Prosecco on arrival was a nice touch. We were at the back if the hotel and it was quite noisy from the street so maybe ask to be at the front. Service: 5
