We visited The Village Inn this evening for a meal. Although the front bar area has been refreshed and feels brighter than in previous years, the décor in the rear restaurant remains dated. The restaurant was empty at the time of our visit, but the waitress was friendly and the service was prompt. The menu offered limited options with the liver and bacon dish, with only chips or mash and green beans available. It would have been nice to have alternatives such as new potatoes, though the chef did try to compensate by providing a generous portion of green beans. I ordered the chicken curry. While the rice and naan bread were acceptable, the poppadom was extremely greasy, and the curry itself had no sauce. I requested additional curry sauce, and although the dish was replaced, the second version was worse. It appeared watered down, the rice had become mushy, and the chicken was dry and floating in a very weak sauce. The waitress remained attentive and offered an alternative meal, but by that point I had lost my appetite. When we asked for the bill, the curry should have been removed before it was presented to us; instead, we had to request the adjustment ourselves. Overall, I was very disappointed with the food. I have been visiting Westward Ho! for over 20 years and have enjoyed many good times in the bar, but based on this experience, I do not expect to dine there again.

Great roast dinner on Sunday plenty of veg,and if there is veg you don't like just let them know and they will not dish it up anything you want it's no trouble and if you want extra if veg you like they will do it for you,they will see me every Sunday lunch time
