Stumbled on this restaurant and decided to try it out. We were very glad we did. The food was exceptional and the service very friendly and welcoming. The place was busy and had a good energy. I highly recommend Volk. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: €60–70

Worst restaurant experience I've had in Berlin and totally at odds of authentic Berlin eateries and the Berlin vibe as a whole. It just feels so much out of place and pretentious for what it is. Apart from the oysters, that were nice, the food is mediocre at best with small portions, potatoes were soggy, everything is greatly overpriced, e.g. a starter for 17€, wine is ok but again, super small portion for the price and the overall bill was eye-watering. The guy was nice and friendly, but the service overall was basically non-existent as we had to wait forever for anyone to get back to our table to continue ordering after the starters, and my wine glass was empty for 2 hours, so I just lost interest in the end. Even the chocolate mousse dessert was just ok fine, whatever. The place has cables hanging down from the ceiling and there are clothes rails on the way to the bathroom, some sort of 2nd hand thrift store? That is actually some Berlin vibe, just a bit off with the white table cloths in the front but fine. Brunnenstr. is way too loud and polluted to sit outside IMO, so although it was a nice day, we sat inside on plastic chairs, which was also weird. Anyway, will not return. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

Total treat - elegant, cool & also something nicely original in the atmosphere. Indeed, great swing & extremely pleasing food / service. Compliments.
