I visited this hotel during the may bank holiday for the day with some friends and it truly felt like a mini vacation. Being 6 months postpartnum I was desperate for a break and after leaving this hotel I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated. I visited the spa which is beautifully done with loads of treatment rooms and spa facilities such as a relaxation pool, steam and sauna rooms, which i enjoyed it all. The facilities were all really clean. I had a wonderful full body masssge by Jo, who was really lovely and catered to my requests. I then had a delicious lunch outside with views of the pond which felt really calm and serene, had a caesar salad and truffle fries which were really good and the salad was really fresh. Their hot brownie dessert was amazing!!! I also had a lovely afternoon tea with my girls and enjoyed the sandwiches, scones and desserts which didnt disappoint. The grounds were lovely to walk through and has a sailing club near by and a beach, which i didnt get a chance to see but will definetly go back for with the kids. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and from the minute you walk in all the staff are really friendly and helpful. So just want to say a massive Thank you to all the staff for a lovely experience and day out and I will definetly be coming back! Service: 5

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a wonderful and heartfelt review. We’re delighted to hear that your visit over the May bank holiday felt like a true mini‑vacation, especially at such an important time postpartum. Knowing you left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated means the world to us. We’re thrilled that you enjoyed the spa facilities and found everything beautifully presented and clean. Jo will be over the moon to hear your kind words — she takes great pride in tailoring each treatment to individual needs, and it’s lovely to know your full‑body massage was such a positive experience. Your comments about lunch by the pond, the delicious dishes, and the serene atmosphere are truly appreciated. We’re also so pleased that your afternoon tea with friends was a highlight — our team works hard to make every part of the day feel special. It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed exploring the grounds and that you’re already planning to return with your children to experience even more of what the area has to offer. From the moment you arrived to the moment you left, we’re glad our friendly and helpful team made your day feel effortless and enjoyable. Thank you again for your incredibly kind words and for choosing to spend your day with us. We can’t wait to welcome you back for another memorable visit.

Stayed at Frensham Pond Hotel & Spa for two nights, Wednesday 22nd & Thursday 23rd April 2026 as a base for celebrating my cousin's wedding in the nearby Cain Manor. I was part of a large-ish sized group whom had travelled to also attend the wedding, maybe about 25 - 30, and rooms were booked months in advance. The first thing I noticed when I arrived was that the place was under renovation and completely understaffed. Check in took ages, and the staff member seemed to be more concerned with trying to sell us breakfast than get people into their rooms. All the while, builders drilled holes around us, plastic sheeting on the floor, and signs saying that various things were closed or relocated. We booked dinner for that evening, and settled in. The room was clean, and there was a small gym onsite with free weights and some machines. Dinner was frankly a disaster. They had changed part of the spa into the dining room, so groups of us were put into a separate conference room and away from the main bar area. There was one guy taking care of probably about 30 people and he was completely overwhelmed. I appreciate he was doing his best, but we were sitting for a solid 40 minutes before our order was taken. We ordered water for the table multiple times, which never showed. My partner is vegan and questioned if one of the items on the menu which said it was vegan actually was (naan bread) which the guy blankly stared at us, and said he'd ask the chef. Turns out, no. It's not... so VEGANS BEWARE! (We'll come back to this). Finally got them to do up a salad for her after a lot of back and forth. The food itself came out in drips, so no one was eating at the same time. I'd say it was a solid hour and twenty after sitting that my meal came, which was lukewarm to cold, but I was too hungry and annoyed to complain. Everyone who we dined with agreed it was a dreadful experience. Again, I could understand a little since they were short staffed, but also the hotel for months knew how many people were staying, and there's not much else around to go to for dinner options, so common sense would dictate that they should be better covered. Breakfast... And this is where it gets even worse. I had confirmed two days in advance that there would be vegan options for breakfast, to which the hotel sent me a cheery email back to say yes, and that they'd be happy to cater for us. When we went down, we specifically mentioned this and the guy managing breakfast gestured towards the hot breakfast station specifically mentioning the eggs and bacon. We glossed over that and when we asked if the tomatoes and mushrooms were vegan safe, he just looked at us a little lost and said he didn't know. When we asked about the vegan options that were listed on the website, he shrugged and said that the delivery hadn't arrived, so there wasn't all the usual stuff. My partner is super dairy intolerant, so didn't want to risk anything that could cause her to be sick (especially since we were due to attend a wedding that day), so she forewent the hot breakfast and asked for vegan porridge made with oat milk or soy. The guy pops down a bowl after about 10 mins and she takes a mouthful before spitting it out. We call the guy over to confirm that it's vegan, and he's like 'yes yes... definitely vegan', but we get him to double check with the chef, and guess what? THEY HAD MADE IT WITH COW MILK! So now my girlfriend is stressed to the max thinking that she might be made sick by this, so she eats the actual vegan porridge that the guy comes back with, blaming the chef, and we hope for the best. VEGANS BEWARE, TIMES TWO! When we go to reception to try to complain, there's no one there. Ringing the bell doesn't herald anyone, and we have to get ready for the wedding so we leave. We were back late that evening, again no one at reception, and checked out quickly the next morning, we'd didn't try for the breakfast again. Positives: Rooms are clean, area is quiet and beautiful for a nice walk around the pond. Great location for attending a wedding in nearby Cain Manor.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback following your recent stay with us. I’m genuinely sorry that your experience at Frensham Pond Hotel & Spa fell so far short of expectations, particularly during what should have been a special and enjoyable visit for your cousin’s wedding. You are absolutely right to be disappointed by the disruption caused by our refurbishment work. While these renovations are intended to improve the hotel for future guests, we clearly failed to minimise the impact on your arrival experience, and the noise, delays at check-in, and lack of clear communication were unacceptable.I’m especially concerned to read about your dining and breakfast experiences. Most importantly, I sincerely apologise for the repeated and serious failures around vegan and dairy-free catering. Providing incorrect information about ingredients, particularly serving porridge made with cow’s milk after confirming it was vegan, is a significant error and understandably caused stress and loss of trust your feedback will be addressed directly with our kitchen and front-of-house teams.I’m also sorry that you were unable to speak with anyone at reception to raise your concerns during your stay. This should never be the case, and we recognise how frustrating that must have been, especially when time was limited due to wedding commitments.I do appreciate you highlighting the positives — the cleanliness of the rooms, the peaceful setting, and the beautiful surroundings — and I’m glad those aspects of your stay provided at least some consolation.Your feedback has been shared with senior management and will be used to drive urgent improvements in staffing levels, dietary awareness training, and guest communication, particularly during periods of refurbishment.Should you be willing, we would very much welcome the opportunity to discuss your stay further and see how we might begin to put this right. Please feel free to contact the hotel directly and ask to speak to meThank you again for your honesty, and I’m truly sorry that we let you down on this occasion.Roberto RossGeneral Manager

The only law that forces businesses to provide free tap water applies to licensed premises. Pubs, bars, cafes, restaurants and nightclubs must provide free tap water if they sell alcohol, under the Licensing Act.

The terms of the Licensing Act state: "The responsible person (the licence holder) shall ensure that free tap water is provided on request to customers where it is reasonably available."

If they refuse and is licensed you need to report them to the local council which issues the licences and could be revoke by them and a court magistrate and also report them to the National Trust who they hold the food concession for the site.
