Really disappointed with my experience at Whitby Wok. I bought a bottle of water for £1.80, but when I opened it I immediately noticed dirt and grime around the rim and inside the cap. I took it straight back to the counter and showed the staff member the contamination, expecting it to be replaced without any fuss. Instead, she refused to replace the bottle and offered me a straw or a cup instead. That completely misses the point—the contamination was around the bottle opening, so I had no confidence that the water hadn't been compromised. What made the experience even worse was the attitude. The woman serving was rude, aggressive and dismissive, making me feel like I was being unreasonable for raising a genuine food hygiene concern. If this is how obvious hygiene issues are handled, it does make me question the standards behind the scenes. I hope the management take food safety more seriously in future because this experience was far from acceptable.
