Book this location because it had a pool only to find the pool empty when we arrived. It is dated but provided a good place to put my head down. The buffet ran out of food very quickly, but some of the things were replenished by the time we finished our breakfast.

We stopped in here as an overnight pit stop. The good: easily accessible, just off the highway, spacious rooms, breakfast included, and $110/night taxes included for 2 adults and 2 kids. The bad and ugly: the rooms use a key to gain access and clearly keys open multiple doors… at 2am we had some someone try to come in (trying to get into their room and were confused I suppose). The ONLY way to lock the door from the inside is a chain which was half ripped off the door. No dead bolts, not even a lock on the doorknob itself. The rooms stank like cigarette smoke and bedding had cigarette burn holes. The hotel had an pool and hot tub however they’re empty (staff confirming this had been like this for years) not complaining the price is great for a quick stop and don’t expect to swim but there is no safety measures to stop you from falling into the pool. No barriers. No signs. This was worrisome with kids. Further to, we happened to be there on a day it was raining… it also rained inside the building through the skylights in the central area, raining all over the pool area. We drew attention to staff about the door situation and she didn’t care. Stay if you need a cheap rate and in and out stay but know what you’re getting yourself into.

My fiance and I were on our way to Regina on the night of January 31 when we ran into one of the worst blizzards I've ever experienced in my lifetime. Visibility was absolute zero. We had to pull over on the shoulder of hwy 1 and waited 6 hours in -30'C winds for the storm to lessen it's intensity. Once the winds started to die down we decided to try and go the 14km it was to get to Whitewood. We made it safely and without incident and pulled into the Whitewood Inn at 5am looking to get a room to sleep a few hours before continuing on our travels. It was closed to our surprise. So we called the phone number on the door and spoke with the hotel manager. He was at home and said that they don't open until 7am. I told him our story and pleaded with him to come in early so that we could get refuge from the blizzard. He agreed and was there within 10 minutes. That man was an absolute life saver in our moment of need. I praised him and thanked him repeatedly for his compassion. The next time we are in the area, we will be stopping in again to experience the exceptional hospitality of the Whitewood Inn.
