Amazing service, team and management!! I’m appalled at the review left below - I was in the garden on Friday evening enjoying my evening with a large group of friends and we were massively concerned for the safety of some children so we alerted the manager as the parents were drunk and not looking after their children. It was really unnerving to see. I think it’s really unfair of them to make such accusations when there’s a garden full of people who can attest the parents negligence! The pub really tries to put in great things for everyone involved and are so FRIENDLY AND INCLUSIVE. Don’t let someone with a bee in their bonnet detour you! We LOVE you Wonder, Pizza Gig and the live music! Don’t change! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £100+ Kid-friendliness: EXTREMELY FAMILY FRIENDLY!

Absolute gem of a pub and always so helpful and accommodating! We’ve had several events at the pub and they can’t do enough for us. Me, my husband, kids and extended family have always felt extremely safe and welcomed - never had any issues in the slightest! And were in most Friday evenings after school. Never had a bad experience - my kids love Charley and Dolly! No negatives. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I am writing this review after an incredibly upsetting experience at The Wonder. It was the end of the school term, so the pub was busy with parents, carers, and young children. If this venue does not want families on the premises, they should state that clearly, because the management's attitude made it clear children are not welcome. The manager singled out my six-year-old son, who is autistic. He approached me claiming he had spoken to me previously about my son's behaviour, which is completely untrue. He cited three entirely minor, one-off occurrences such as my son accidentally spilling some water on the floor. When that water spilled, I distinctly heard the manager use aggressive profanity to his staff, openly expressing his frustration about the children in the venue. When the manager came over to confront me, his manner was incredibly hostile. I explained to him that my child is neurodivergent, hoping for some basic professional courtesy. Instead, he showed a complete lack of understanding, remained aggressive, and repeatedly snapped at me that “it is your responsibility for your child.” Yes, it is my responsibility to care for my child, and part of that responsibility is defending him against this kind of hostility. The world is already challenging enough for an autistic child to navigate, and unprofessional management like this only makes it more difficult. Instead of showing any empathy or customer service, he doubled down on his awful attitude and ultimately asked us to leave. If you cannot handle a lively atmosphere during school holidays, do not market yourself as a family-friendly venue. * Training required: The manager needs urgent customer service training to learn how to speak to paying customers with basic respect rather than aggression. * Neurodivergence awareness: The staff and management drastically need education on neurodivergence. Every child is different. If there is ever a genuine issue, there is a respectful, dignified way to approach a parent for a conversation, rather than jumping straight to blame and exclusion. This pub is absolutely not inclusive. To aggressively single out an autistic six-year-old and kick a family out over an accidental water spill is unacceptable. We will never be returning, and I warn any other parents of neurodivergent children to avoid this place. RESPONSE TO THE MANAGER'S REPLY: I was at your pub with TWO children. Because they’re neurodivergent, they were visible to myself or my adult friends all the time we were there. Whatever other children were doing in that pub was not my responsibility. If you had issues with other people's children, you should have gone and spoken to their parents instead of lazily lumping us all together and targeting me. Your management of this situation was entirely unprofessional, and your excuses are completely unacceptable.

Hi CJ1224,Thank you for taking time to leave us a review.Regarding your feedback - firstly I'd like to apologise for any upset caused.We are an extremely inclusive pub and are extremely family friendly - known for our community spirit and atmosphere.As you know, there were children all around the pub this evening for a happy and lively end of term celebration with live music and pizza.Last night the children in group were left unattended several times with other guests raising concern for their wellbeing.Occasions included running out into the road, getting behind sheds/the marquee which is out of bounds and dangerous - through damaging our structure to get behind the marquee, and coming behind the bar which is dangerous for minors. As well as nearly damaging singer and pub equipment several times after being asked to keep an eye out on the children.As for the water being spilled in the bar, this wasn't an issue - it was a hazard we were trying to resolve.I'd like to remind you that we as a business have a duty of care which includes preventing children from harm - which is listed in our licensing objectives. And on this occasion this was what was concerning - we didn't feel the children were being protected from harm.There were many occasions last night that the children were left unattended and I'm sorry that it got to a point that we had to have more of a frank conversation.We accommodate for all at The Wonder, I'm sorry that on this occasion, my asking you to keep an eye on the children offended you, that wasn't intentional.If you'd like to discuss further please do not hesitate to contact me.Tel: 0208-363-0202Kind RegardsCharley General Manager
