Our staff recognised Mr Paul straight away when you came into the shop. You are the only customer who regularly asks for a free cracker regardless of how much is spent, and who refuses to leave if not satisfied. We introduced our current menu two months ago, and this was likely your first order since then. You may not have noticed the terms and conditions on the printed menu, which state: “Yummy’s management reserves the right to change prices, terms, and conditions at any time without prior notice.” Despite this, we treated you as a regular customer and provided what you asked for. We usually offer free cookies, crackers, and drinks when available, and we try to provide alternatives if customers prefer something else. However, we ask that our staff are treated with respect. They are paid minimum wage to serve and deliver food and do not deserve any form of disrespect. They are also part of Yummy’s management and have the right to decide whether to offer service. Finally, we did not charge you the fortune cookies — they were free, as we understood that you like complimentary items. We cannot know your preferences unless you let us know when placing your order.
