food is disgusting from here - it has no actual taste, besides tasting greasy. an insult to battered chips, because they are not at all battered, only dark yellow and slightly soggy. the oil they use is in serious need of refresh. First time ordering from Zara's Chippy and the last! We knew it was far more expensive that other chip shops but we wanted a treat so took the plunge. The bill was over £29 and for this we received a large fish, small chips and a mini fish and chip special with an extra curry sauce. It took over an hour to arrive and wow after accepting the food, feeling the weight what was in the bag had a feeling something wasn't right. The so called large fish (pictured) which cost £10 was ridiculous. It was small, tasted stale, oily and felt like to had been tossed in straight from the freezer. We wouldn't of minded so much if it tasted great but oh no there were no positives. The curry sauce was limp and again a small portion and to top it off the chips were certainly below average as ten percent were inedible. The only acceptable item was the mini fish which tasted decent. Would never return and hopefully new customer's reading this won't even venture.
