Some of the best pani puri in the U.K. found here! We always make a point of stopping by at Ziya's when we're in the area. It's a real gem of authentic Indian food: generous portion sizes, a diverse menu (large Indo Chinese selection and many vegetarian/vegan options!), plus a lovely welcoming atmosphere. I was struggling to pick from the menu (I've previously had the Veg Kolhapuri - delicious and sooo hard to find Maharashtrian food in Manchester) so got a Indo Chinese Veg Sizzler, which sounded like the perfect combination of dishes ... Momos, fried rice, vegetable manchurian annnnnd chilli paneer. I thought I wasn't hungry but polished off the whole lot. It was fiery tangy, smoky, and perfectly charred. The manchurian in particular were sooo tender and tasty. To start, we shared a favourite, pani puri. These little flavour bombs are fantastic: always such fun to eat and PACKED with lip-smacking moreish flavour. The puri are crisp and fresh, but the pani shot is the standout; full of fresh herby notes and jeera. I could have eaten 10. I think I need that pani on tap My partner had the lamb shank rogan josh as a main, which was massive and by all accounts delicious. He had a classic garlic naan on the side - I stole a bite or two - which was crisp yet soft, with an authentic tandoor char. Over our past few times visting I've also noticed Ziya's often have live music which is a nice old school touch. Finally a note of thanks for the service - all staff are friendly and very helpful. It's evident how much the owner, chefs, and the whole team care about sharing and representing Indian food. I really appreciate that. P.S. ... Chole puri and kashta kachori are next on my to-try list Visit visit visit! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ziya Asian Grill in Rusholme, Manchester, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Upon entry, we were greeted by welcoming and professional staff who made us feel right at home. We visited for iftar, and I was impressed by how promptly our food was prepared. As a lovely surprise, we were treated to complimentary dates and a refreshing banana and date milkshake each, which was a generous touch. The menu boasted a vast variety of dishes, providing plenty of options without overwhelming the senses. There were also good vegetarian selections presented, catering to different tastes. For starters, we indulged in Tandoori King prawns and Pistachio Chicken tikka. Both dishes were absolutely amazing, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The quality of the food was evident right from the first bite. For our main courses, we chose Chicken Kadai and Dhabha gosht, accompanied by basmati rice and garlic naan. Each dish was delicious, and I appreciated that our request for the chicken kadai to be medium and the dhabha gosht to be hot was honored without hesitation. The staff's professionalism stood out, as they struck the perfect balance between being attentive and not overly intrusive, which made for a relaxed dining atmosphere. Many Indian and South Asian restaurants can be a bit too eager to check in on guests, but here, it felt just right. Overall, the combination of fantastic food, a wonderful atmosphere, and exceptional staff created a perfect dining experience. I would highly recommend Ziya Asian Grill to anyone in search of a nice eatery. It's truly a gem! Would definitely go again! Thanks, Jay.
