Very disappointing experience at the BP petrol station at 43–47 Godstone Rd, Warlingham, Whyteleafe CR3 0EG on 27 February at around 2:15 pm. I had to wait a long time for the pump to be authorised before I could even start refuelling. It was clear the station was seriously understaffed, with only one employee running between the café and the payment till while a long queue of customers was waiting. I originally planned to buy a coffee, but after watching the same staff member handling cash and then preparing food, I became concerned about basic food hygiene, so I decided not to purchase anything from the café. When it came time to pay, I was asked to use the new self-service card payment system, which I was unfamiliar with. The cashier rang the bell twice before a manager and another staff member eventually appeared. Instead of helping or apologising for the delay, the manager asked me “what my problem was” because I didn’t understand the new system. That level of customer service is completely unacceptable. This experience highlighted poor management, lack of staffing, and questionable food safety practices. It was also obvious that the staff member on duty was being left to handle far too many responsibilities alone. Overall, a very poor customer experience. I will not be returning to this BP station.
