Easily the best Mexican food I have eaten so far in Edinburgh and I have sampled a lot of it! Everything that we ordered hit the spot perfectly in terms of flavour pairings, quality of cooking and presentation. The service was good, prompt, attentive but not intrusive. In terms of the tacos, the tortillas were soft and fluffy, the meat was juicy and the toppings they chose to pair with the meat were spot on. Honestly though the stars of the meal were actually the beef short rib and the potato skewer (which could easily be overlooked but was absolutely delicious). I was expecting big chunks of potato but it was actually lots of wafer thin slices of potato pushed tightly together, super crispy on the outside and covered in a delicious sauce. The restaurant vibe and decor was nice and it was lovely and warm inside (not always a given in Edinburgh restaurants!). Literally the only thing I would comment on was that the cushioned built in seating in the window front where we sat was pretty dirty with lots of stains on the fabric and food crumbs, so it wasn't the nicest to sit down on. Seems like an easy thing to fix so hopefully the restaurant owners will see to it soon! Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Had such amazing dinner here! Tapa style plates, so be ready to order a couple out of the really well thought out menu. All tasted fresh and was beautifully put together. Staff were so friendly and helpful, always on hand for any questions. New fave Mexican in town, highly recommend! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I booked this place for my birthday, I wanted a low-key meal with friends with great food. I picked Bodega because the menu is fully gluten free and there were a range of options on the menu to suit the meat-eaters and vegetarians in the group. I was not disappointed, all the food we ordered was delicious and I think everyone was very happy. I don't know enough about tacos to comment on the authenticity but it all tasted so good! I think some people who like massive portions may not have been filled, but it suited us. Service was very attentive but unobtrusive. Our water was continuously topped up without any prompting and the staff were friendly and informative about the menu and gave good recommendations. I'd highly recommend this place, whether you love tacos or are indifferent, the food is excellent.
