Room clean and tidy, service was friendly and kind which was much appreciated. Good breakfast and you can stay in the room until 12pm which was handy as it was raining. The hotel is close to Mermaid Quay with a good choice of restaurants and amenities. About a 30 minutes walk from Cardiff Central. Service: 4

It wasn’t the fault of this hotel that I had a lot of problems booking. There seemed to be a glitch on the site. I had to keep trying for days, sometimes being told that there were no rooms available in Wales. Of course, I tried with different devices to check that the fault wasn’t mine. I ended up having to stay at Cardiff Bay, a few more miles further away than I had planned. As the website was glitching I also couldn’t book the kind of room I wanted (I think it’s called Premier Plus) despite the fact that the site said two were available. There were rooms with views available and, as I hadn’t seen rooms with views that came with a premium in Premier Inns before, I paid the extra £9 expecting something very special. It really wasn’t. Yes, I could see some water and a couple of nice buildings, but I could also see more very boring buildings. I definitely wouldn’t pay extra to stay in ‘a room with a view’ here again. Unless, maybe the standard rooms have dreadful views? The room was on the top floor, and incredibly quiet, which was lovely. I needed to extend my stay for an extra night and was grateful that I could book it easily at the desk. Unfortunately there was a problem with the booking later, but two ladies sorted the problem as quickly as they could and brought the price down, and I was given a complimentary glass of wine, which was very welcome. In fact all the staff I met were really lovely and helpful. If I ever want or need to stay in Cardiff in future, I’d be happy to book a room here again. Service: 5

A few things let this hotel down for us. The location is great and breakfast was fresh and plentiful. However, when we arrived in our room we noticed the plug was stuck in the sink so the water couldn't drain. We let a member of staff know straight away at roughly midday - they took our room number and told us they would get someone to look at it. However, when we returned to our room at 9:45 that evening, the sink was still full and plug stuck - clearly no one had looked at it. We went to reception and were helped by some wonderful staff who did their best to sort the plug. Although it was extremely disappointing that our request earlier that day had been ignored, I would like to thank the brilliant staff who helped us that evening. We were offered a free breakfast for the morning which was a very nice gesture. I would also like to stress that our room was very dated, with multiple stains on the carpet and the underside of the toilet roll dispenser was not cleaned properly with some very gross looking marks/stains on it. The air conditioning was also inefficient so the room got very hot and stuffy through the night. We also only had one bath towel provided, despite the room being booked for two people! The rooms are in need of a refresh and these bathroom plugs should probably be replaced as it seems they often cause an issue! Service: 3
