Great restaurant, and there’s clearly a lot of thought and skill behind the food. That said, given the price point and the expectations that come with it, I was hoping for something more. Everything was good, but unfortunately not a single dish was particularly memorable. At this level, I expect at least a few moments that really surprise or stay with you afterwards. Overall, a very enjoyable meal, but for the price and reputation, I left feeling that it fell short of being truly exceptional. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £100+

We were incredibly excited to dine at Cardinal, but unfortunately we left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. The setting is lovely and the service was attentive throughout the evening. We also opted for the wine pairing, which was enjoyable and complemented the dishes well. However, the food itself didn't live up to our expectations. While each course was clearly ambitious and beautifully presented, it often felt as though it was trying too hard to be inventive without delivering on flavour. Many of the dishes were quite bland and lacked the depth and excitement we were hoping for, especially given the restaurant's reputation. Although the team were professional, we didn't get much sense of passion or enthusiasm, which made the overall experience feel a little flat. Overall, it wasn't a bad meal by any means, but considering the hype and expectations, we left feeling disappointed rather than impressed. Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4
