Just been fleeced for lunch at The Crabshell Inn. The picture shows a crab cocktail starter, which costs £15 and consists of a few salad leaves, a couple of apple shavings, and about a spoonful of crab meat. There was no bread to accompany the dish. This was bought because The Crabshell don't actually offer much in the way of crab dishes, certainly no sandwiches! It comes to something when pubs now charge well in excess of £10 for a starter, and it's hardly surprising these businesses are failing. This experience spoiled what ought to have been a really nice lunch. Incidentally, we also ordered a side of fries that cost £5.50 and was the smallest portion I've ever seen! To be fair though, the lamb skewers (£15.50), whilst very much overpriced, were the best of what we ordered. I doubt we shall revisit.
