Delicious Taiwanese fried chicken. Hot Star is the famous spot for Large Fried Chicken hailing from Taiwan. I recall visiting their original location at the Taipei night market and being astounded by the huge wing span of the crispy chicken. This location is at the Heritage food court on the second floor of Pacific Mall location. Seeing the Best Ever Food Review Show rate this type of meal as the best fried chicken in Asia made me want to revisit. The original large fried chicken here is now $13.49 and comes with flavors such as salt & pepper, spicy, plum, cumin & seaweed. Best eaten hot, you can really smell the aroma & savour each crunchy bite with the juicy meat. Recently the crispy batter was softer than I remembered from the potato starch. You can make it a combo for $24.99 which seems very steep. It’s as good without melted cheese. Skip it or hit it? When the fried chicken urge hits, this is what I’d crave for again. I’ve never experienced such terrible customer service. The two guys at the front counter were gossiping about customers(like me) and their coworkers in Cantonese. Did they really think no one else understood Cantonese? It was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. They deserve negative one star if that were possible. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Hot Star Large Fried Chicken is a very famous place at Taiwan night market. It is nice to see their franchise in Toronto for these couple of years. It is on the second floor of Pacific Mall, inside the Heritage Village. Really like the seasonings and the huge size of chicken. It tastes exceptionally well. However, with the current price tag, customers are probably going there only once a year.
