I don't think this is a Japanese grill. It's more of a Korean restaurant. No Japanese restaurant serves kalbi while playing K-pop, and the menu is almost entirely Korean. Overall, the food was decent, the service was okay, and the atmosphere was average but nothing particularly memorable. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $40–50

3-3.5 stars at best. I am really surpused at the higher ratings.
The atmosphere and the food arsthetics is top notch - full 5 stars. The food diversity is great - 4.5 stars fully deserved.
Then food taste/enjoyment is hardly above 3 stars - miso sup is too salty, many condiments/meats are overwhelmed with spices. Toadted maki looks great - the design is top notch , but tastes arguably at best...
Below 3.5 stars in my limited opinion but a very rich experience that you may enjoy more than me.

We had such a great experience at Kin Gyu Japanese Grill in Waterloo! Huge shoutout to Jenny, our server — she honestly made our night. We were so impressed that she remembered us, including the table we sat at and even the dishes we ordered. That kind of attention to detail is rare and really made us feel valued as returning customers. The service overall was excellent. Even when Jenny was busy, another server stepped in to help us and was just as polite and attentive. You can really tell that the whole team here cares about customer experience. This is exactly why we keep coming back — great food, amazing service, and such a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely a 5-star experience every time!
