Me and my family came to the New Inn, Walton expecting excellent service and food. We were thoroughly excited having seen the amazing reviews. After entering, the waitress seated us at our table and from the get go the man on shift (grey suit, possibly the manger) gave us the frostiest reception. After 2 minutes of having our drinks, the man came over to take our orders, obviously trying to rush us out already, we said we were not ready and he reminded us we only had 2 hours on the table (can I just add, he was chewing chewing gum which if unbelievable unhygienic, especially considering the current circumstances). Immediately, I thought this was a negative comment to make since we had about an hour and a half left, plenty of time to have our food. From then, this man proceeded to stare in the direction of a member of our party and shake his head. The member of our party felt immediately felt intimidated and he said “he didn’t feel comfortable in the establishment”. Whist this was happening, and additionally member of our party went to the toilet, unfortunately she slipped on the small hazardous step near the toilet (which had no warning sign saying “mind the small step”), she fell down the steps and all the staff did was look and stare. Locals of the establishment were more concerned than any of the members of staff. So from then, not having even ordered our food, we decided to leave. I have worked in hospitality for 5+ year and I would have never greeted ANY customer in this way. I doesn’t take much to greet a customer with a “hello there, how are you?” And because of this and the treatment we received we will never be visiting the New Inn again, regardless of how “amazing” the food is.
