Food is average pubfood. Pizza dough was not cooked all the way through. Toppings too thick, pizza was not hot, just warm. Disappointed. Service was okay. Classic British pub with a good atmosphere. The food is a little mediocre but is fairly reasonably priced; good spot to just grab drinks and enjoy the vibe. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: $10–20 Parking space: Plenty of parking

I wanted to leave some feedback following our visit. We were visiting Calgary when we spotted the Newcastle Pub from our Uber. As someone from Newcastle myself, I was really pleased to see a bar with a. Geordie connection. We arrived today at around 10:45am for the Canada game, to find the bar only around half full. We were immediately greeted by a waitress who bluntly said, “If you don’t have a booking, we’re full. Bye.” The manner in which we were spoken to was disappointing. We asked another waitress whether reserved tables would be released if people didn’t turn up, but were told they would be held until the game had finished. While waiting outside for our Uber, we watched several other groups being turned away despite many tables remaining empty just minutes before kick-off. Most venues would allow a reasonable grace period before releasing unused reservations or at least invite customers to wait with a drink until a table became available. As someone from Newcastle, I know the friendliness and hospitality Geordies are known for. Unfortunately, that wasn’t reflected in our experience, which was a real disappointment. We ended up at the Watchman who were just in the process of giving out table where the booking had failed to show. There was about 20 people waiting and all ended up being seated.
