The fish quality is just fine. Since the restaurant smells very smoky I would expect their torched sushi to have more flavour/smokiness but it's quite bland. Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

Torched sushi platter & aged tofu were excellent. Sushi pizza with tuna amazing. Only ‘okay’ dish was comp miso which was lukewarm & not very flavorful. Service was welcoming & efficient (only one other customer was there as it was late afternoon), a great dining experience & will definitely go back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20

For context, I've dined in at least twice, and have placed a few orders through Uber Eats so I'm quite familiar with how the food normally tastes. Also because I order pretty well the same sushi combo each time. Normally, I'm really happy with the taste of what I order both during dine in and delivery experiences. But today with my Uber Eats order, the Torched Sushi and Roll Combo A was not satisfying and inconsistent with my previous experiences. The flavouring of every piece in the combo was very subdued/off/somewhat bland (not sure if it's a lack of sauce or change of amount of ingredients somewhere), and also the kimchi salad isn't as described on the ordering menu through Uber Eats. The online menu describes it as "spicy Korean-style fermented Kimch mixed with crisp greens". Of course the description is bizarre in itself since kimchi is obviously fermented but it sounds like there were going to be other vegetables in there, and there was not. I wasn't expecting anything amazing but there could have been pickled radish and carrots or something else, and I would've been happy even if they're not "green" coloured vegetables. I intentionally ordered the kimchi dish wanting more vegetables in my meal. I was given a bowl of miso which I did not order, and maybe that was the restaurant's way of saying sorry for something? I don't know. Even though that's a nice addition, it doesn't make up for the lower quality sushi and the false description of the kimchi order. Also, the flavour of the kimchi isn't anything to rave about. It's very average (Grocery store brand Jongga is much more tasty). I would have given it 4 stars had the sushi tasted right at the very least since it's the main meal portion. R Sushi - please check for quality control thanks!
