Visited Terrace NQ with three friends and sat on the terrace at table 48, right next to the bar. The atmosphere was great, and the cocktails were enjoyable. The food was decent too – I’d give it 4/5. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended. When we arrived, our table was still covered with glasses from the previous guests. After waiting and seeing nobody deal with it, I ended up clearing them myself and placing them by the bar. Rather than receiving a simple thank you, I was met with a hostile look from a member of staff with black-and-yellow braided hair, as if I had done something wrong. Our food arrived in takeaway containers, which felt strange for customers dining in. Whether that’s a cost-saving measure or not, it certainly doesn’t create the best dining experience. The bigger issue was the service. No cutlery, napkins, or sauces were provided. I had to go and ask for them myself. The same staff member initially ignored me and only responded after I called over twice. Despite clearly seeing there were four of us, she handed me cutlery and napkins for only one person. The napkins themselves were dirty, and when I mentioned it, her response was, “That’s the best I can bring you.” Not “let me get you a better one,” not “you can find more over there” – just “that’s the best I can do.” To make matters worse, our table was next to the bar door, and staff repeatedly slammed it throughout the evening. Every few minutes we were startled by another bang. If the door doesn’t close properly, fix it. If it does, close it with some consideration for the guests sitting beside it. Eventually we became so frustrated that we asked to move and sat downstairs outside instead. To be fair, the experience immediately improved. The two girls working behind the downstairs bar were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. They acknowledged us, had positive energy, and treated us the way hospitality staff should treat guests. That’s actually what makes the contrast even more surprising. The problem clearly wasn’t the venue itself, and not every member of staff was an issue. Some of the team were excellent. Unfortunately, our experience upstairs was so poor that it completely overshadowed the rest of the evening. I’ve worked in hospitality for years and currently help manage one of the busiest café groups in Manchester with multiple locations. Service standards matter, and unfortunately this was some of the worst customer service I’ve experienced in a long time. Great location. Decent food. Excellent staff downstairs. Terrible service upstairs. I won’t be returning, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4

I absolutely love this bar, I went to several bars yesterday and this was my favourite. Great roof terrace and outside seating areas. Excellent Hugo Spritz and friendly staff. Price per person: £10–20 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
