Absolutely rotten. Fish was way over cooked. Bland and very dry. Didn’t enjoy it all. Give it a miss. Must’ve changed hands cos it was always superb. Go further up to other side of the road. Wish I had. Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Order type: Takeaway Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20

Stopped in here while in Callander and honestly it was one of the best chip shop experiences we’ve had in a while. The location is ideal right in the town and you can tell straight away it’s popular because it was constantly busy the whole time we were there — always a good sign when locals and tourists are both queuing up. Even with it being busy, the staff stayed really polite, friendly and organised which made the experience feel welcoming from the start. Cleanliness & Atmosphere. The inside of the shop was spotless and well looked after. Floors and counters all looked really clean which definitely stands out in a busy takeaway. It felt comfortable sitting in waiting for the food and the atmosphere had that proper traditional Scottish chippy feel. What We Ordered • Sausage supper with cheese • Fish supper Price. Came to around £20 which at first does feel slightly on the pricier side for a chippy, but once you actually taste the food you understand why. The quality is genuinely far above average and you can tell they’re using good ingredients and cooking everything fresh. Fish Supper. The fish supper was absolutely outstanding. The batter was perfectly crispy without being greasy and had a really nice crunch to it. Inside, the fish was fresh, flaky and full of flavour. Portion size was great too and every bite tasted fresh. Easily one of the nicest fish suppers we’ve had in a long time. Sausage Supper with Cheese. The sausage was really meaty and packed with flavour instead of tasting processed like a lot of places. Adding the cheese made it even better and everything tasted freshly cooked. Definitely filling and really enjoyable. Chips. The chips were exactly how chippy chips should be — fluffy on the inside with a nice bite on the outside. Perfect amount of salt and they tasted fresh rather than like they’d been sitting around. They paired perfectly with both meals. Overall. Overall we’d give The Tasty Fry a solid 9/10. Great quality food, clean shop, friendly staff and a proper good atmosphere. Slightly more expensive than some chip shops but definitely worth paying that bit extra for the quality you get. Would happily come back again next time we’re in Callander.
