My wife & I along with our lovely friends visited the Game Cock Inn, Austwick on Saturday the 8th of August (2026). The Game Cock Inn is a pub of 2 halves. What do I mean? Well, the pub itself is fantastic, full of charm & character. Our meals, starters and mains were delicious and beautifully presented. The waiter/ waitress were both great, very friendly, polite and attentive without being intrusive and they DID NOT refer to us as guys, are you wanting drinks guys, are you ready to order guys ( I detest it immensely). Now for my explanation of the pub being “ A Pub of 2 halves. After we had finished our meals we went outside to the beer garden. Wow, we had entered Crufts, the dog show. A couple had a Pug dog laid out on the table fast asleep, the table that someone else would be sat at later enjoying a meal or drink and then there was a chap sat opposite us with a dog sat on his lap and it was drinking beer from his pint glass. The garden was heaving with dogs and their dog loving, no , dog obsessed owners. Come on Game Cock Inn, sort out those people and their dogs, don’t ruin the experience of visiting, eating and staying at your wonderful pub.
