Hi the venue has a capacity of 400 so it’s not small. The security checks are in place so as to have a good night for everyone. As you will know that the venue is on first floor then the smoking area is outside the cornerhouse which is not at all inconvenient and for years customers have been doing that. The speakers and music system is best in the class and not sure why you heard crackles as sound check is done before opening. Also, the event you alleged attended took place more than two months back. Surprisingly you just woke up after that.
