Disappointing Experience – Poor Customer Service We ended up at The Ship on Saturday night with a large group. Initially, we sat outside on the terrace, which was lovely and had a great view, but it became too cold so we moved inside. We were a big group and spending a decent amount (a round came to around £70), so it was disappointing that as the night went on and the pub actually became quite quiet (by around 10pm there were very few people left), we were approached by the barman at about 10:15 and told to “keep the noise down.” This felt completely unnecessary and quite rude, especially for a Saturday night in a pub. We were simply enjoying ourselves in a normal way. When someone in our group pointed out that the pub wasn’t busy, the barman responded dismissively with “there are people out the back,” which didn’t really justify his tone. What made it worse was that he could clearly see we were taken aback by how he spoke to us, yet he made no effort to apologise or clarify politely. Having since read other reviews, it seems this may not be an isolated issue and that some staff could benefit from customer service training. Because of this experience, I wouldn’t return. There are plenty of other welcoming bars on the high street that will happily get my business instead. Service: 1

Great food and fabulous location. All staff very friendly and the landlord made an effort to speak to us as we were visitors to the area. It was a lovely evening so we sat on the roof terrace for a drink after our meal. Would highly recommend. Service: 5
