Człowiek za barem jest niesamowity! Można miło podyskutować przy oczekiwaniu na piwo niestety nie mogliśmy spróbować jedzenia, bo kuchnia otwarta od 17, ale bardzo miło spędziliśmy czas. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Visited The Victoria Stakes on a Saturday and was honestly quite disappointed. The pub was almost empty — there seemed to be just one manager, one waitress and only two occupied tables, which felt very unusual for a Saturday. I ordered a Hugo Spritz, but it didn’t taste like a proper Hugo Spritz at all. Instead of the usual St-Germain elderflower liqueur, it seemed to be made with a cheaper alternative and cordial. It was drinkable, but definitely not what I expected for the price. We also ordered the fries for £6. They actually tasted nice, but the portion was ridiculous for the price — most of the fries were tiny, around 1 cm long. £6 for what essentially looked like the remains from the bottom of the fryer basket felt excessive. We originally wanted to order the lamb, but it was unavailable. Again, quite surprising on a Saturday, when you would expect a pub to be stocked and prepared for one of the busiest days of the week. In the end, we decided not to order any more food because nothing else on the menu really appealed to us. The overall impression was very basic pub food at restaurant-level prices. The biggest disappointment, however, was the condition of the place itself. There were cobwebs, dust and dirt in multiple areas, and generally it felt neglected. The building has a lot of character and could be genuinely beautiful, but at the moment it almost feels abandoned in places. We couldn’t even find a nice corner for a photo without clutter or something untidy in the background. The welcome didn’t help either. There was no smile or particularly warm greeting — it felt more like walking into Tesco than arriving at a pub where you’re about to spend £15–£30 per person. It’s a shame because the building has huge potential. It really feels like the place needs some investment, a proper deep clean, a rethink of the menu and pricing, and more attention to the overall guest experience. Hopefully things improve, because in its current state I wouldn’t rush back. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: £20–30

We could not recommend The Victoria Stakes highly enough. From our first visit through to the wedding itself, Emma and the team did everything they could to ensure our day was exactly as we had imagined. Communication throughout the planning process was excellent. Emma was incredibly generous with her time, hosting tastings for us and our parents, sharing ideas and advice, and helping us navigate countless decisions in the lead-up to the wedding. It always felt as though she genuinely cared about creating the best possible experience for us, rather than simply hosting an event. What really sets The Victoria Stakes apart is the people. The team are warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely to be around. In the lead-up to the wedding they made us feel completely looked after, and on the day itself they somehow managed everything seamlessly behind the scenes. You could also see how much the team were enjoying the celebration, which added to the atmosphere and made the evening feel even more special. The food and drinks were fantastic and we received endless compliments from our guests throughout the evening. We had a mix of meat-eaters and vegetarians attending, and everyone felt equally well catered for. So many of our guests came up to us afterwards to comment on the quality of the food. We had hired the private room upstairs which was the perfect place for our wedding reception, it had its own bar and toilets which meant that our guests didn’t need to go up & downstairs. Emma was super helpful discussing layouts for the room ahead of the day and made sure the space worked for what we had planned. The team went above and beyond to help us arrange everything even down to recommending a DJ - Josh who was fantastic and had everyone up on the dance floor! The Victoria Stakes was such a special part of our wedding and we will always be grateful to Emma and the team for helping create such an unforgettable day. We look forward to returning many times in the future — not just because we love the pub, but because of the people who made it feel so special. Thank you so much. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommendation for vegetarians: Highly recommend Dietary restrictions: extremely accommodating to all of our guest dietary requirements and made everything delicious. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly, we had 4 kids join us for the reception and they made sure their food was available first upon arrival and were very generous with
