I had loved the wallflower pre-covid, and I was extremely excited for it to reopen. But both times I have gone since reopening, it unfortunately just isn’t up to par in any way. I went initially a few weeks after opening with a party of four, and the service was objectively very bad. our server was very sweet, but they forgot half our order, everything came out slowly, and it tasted just fine at best. An entire entree was forgotten somehow. The entire experience was flawed. We sat in the back room and it was cold and had fluorescent lighting and we could barely hear any music. I recently gave it another shot because I am rooting for its success. I dined solo early on a Saturday evening, and while the service was better, the quality was not. I ordered a coke and was given a presidents choice cola. I’m not a snob, but any restaurant would let you know they only have coke substitutes before charging you three dollars for a can of PC cola. The burger I ordered was just fine. Basically flavourless but edible — and extremely overpriced for the quality. Cheese cost an extra 2 dollars, and I was given 4 rubbery potato wedges as a side. This was not an 20 dollar burger. I understand it was a quality piece of meat, but that shouldn’t negate flavour. It also was very stuffy in the restaurant with almost no air circulating despite it being 11 degrees outside. Overall, I truly hope this restaurant finds its footing. It’s in an amazing location and used to once be pretty good for its value. I just feel like it’s been totally phoned in sadly. Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
