Service, hold the smiles. (& Bread Gate) I'm visiting from Glasgow as I take my foreign friend around the NC500, looking to introduce them to the local cuisine instead of a Nados, however I wasn't overly impressed. The hosting staff member was less than welcoming, with a very mumbled almost unauditable greeting; with the waiting staff following suit with maybe a smile between the three that attended our two person table. The food was delicious however, I had the Scottish Venison Steak which was cooked perfectly. My friend had the chicken goujons, which were nice and came with a lovely fresh summer salad which was perhaps the star of the show. On paying the bill I was asked if I wanted to add a "Voluntery Service Charge" if around £4, which I had to politely decline due to what I will call Bread Gate. Prior to clearing our plates the waitress who has been serving us primarily, approached the table and asked if she could take our table bread, which we hadn't touched, and in being told she could, eagerly took the basket away. My friend and I instantly came to the same conclusion that it may be going to another table, which we fully believe it did. We are now glad we didn't have the bread as we don't know how long it has been doing the rounds or how many tables it's visited before reaching us. Overall, good food, poor service, and questionable bread etiquette. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: £10–20 Parking space: Difficult to find parking Parking options: Free of charge parking lot, Paid street parking Parking: There are a couple of spaces reserved for The Waterfront guests, however these are limited and thereafter there is paid street parking adjacent to the venue.
